1. THE SEED IS PLANTED: Your body reacts. ⠀

Someone says mean things to you,
…takes credit for your work,
…inflicts physical pain upon you,
…looks at you wrong
…messes up your Starbucks order.

Before you think about it, your body reacts: part of your body gets tight, you hold your breath, your heart rate and body temperature increase, your facial expression changes, etc.

You may not even realize its happening.

⠀ 2. GERMINATION: A story is created.

Your brain reacts to your body’s by going into “story creation mode”:

“Why do they insist on making me feel this way?”

“Why am I feeling this?”

“How can I stop this feeling?” (assuming its an uncomfortable feeling)

“What is wrong with that person?”

“Am I wrong?”

After some time passes, you create a new story to makes sense of what happened in your body, and in the world around you.

⠀ 3. IT GROWS: You repeat the story…many times.
